Welcome back to the starting point of our walking tour, which is also where it ends.
Along the way, you have explored historical traces connected to the history, function, and significance of this special place. Much has changed since the Marienfelde Refugee Center was opened. Germany is no longer divided, and the world is a different place. But across the globe, more people than ever are fleeing their homes, and refugees are still arriving in Germany and here in Berlin.
They need somewhere to stay and prospects for the future. This site will likely remain a point of arrival and a place for refugees to stay for a long time. Its over 70-year history makes it an excellent place to reflect on and discuss flight and migration in the past, present, and future.
If you are curious and would like to find out more, then “step right up!” to our exhibition “Flight in divided Germany”. We look forward to seeing you there!
