Here, between the refugee accommodation and the rental complex, we would like to stop briefly and reflect on what being at home means. When you think of your home, which people, animals, plants, objects, colors, noises, and smells do you imagine? Is home a place where you can be yourself? Is it affordable, spacious, and customizable? Does it offer comfort and security?
For anyone who has to leave their home, it means losing more than just a roof over their head. A place like this—once a reception center, now a temporary housing facility— serves as an initial point of contact that provides shelter and orientation. In the past, it may have been just for a few days or weeks, but today, it's mainly for several months or years. Despite that, it is not a place to settle. The people living here know that it is only a stop on their journey.
